We chant (sing) traditional, authentic Vedic chants.

Although the Vedas themselves are not a classic UNESCO World Heritage Site

(which is awarded for physical sites or monuments),

but they were officially inscribed by UNESCO in 2008 on the

Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The recognition was given to the Tradition of Vedic Chanting.

In addition, selected historical manuscripts of the Rigveda

were already included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register in 2007.

The reason why the recitation received UNESCO protection

  1. Oral traditions dating back thousands of years:
The Vedas are among the oldest collections of spiritual texts on Earth (over 3,500 years old).
Before they were written down, they were passed down exclusively orally
    from generation to generation.

  2. Extreme mathematical precision:
To prevent distortions over the centuries,
Brahmana priests developed complex recitation techniques (pathas).
Every syllable, every pitch, every accent, and the exact mouth position
    are strictly prescribed.

  3. Acute Threat:
Although the system is considered one of humanity’s
oldest uninterrupted oral traditions in human history,
    the tradition is seriously endangered.

Of the original more than a thousand recitation branches,
only a few active schools remain in India today
(including in states such as Maharashtra, Kerala, and Karnataka).

The Four Core Texts of the Vedas

This preserved tradition involves the recitation
of the four major collections of Vedic scriptures:

  1. Rigveda
The oldest collection, containing more than 1,000 hymns and praises to the gods.

  2. Samaveda
Musical arrangements and chants based on the hymns of the Rigveda.

  3. Yajurveda
Mantras, ritual prayers (petitions) recited by priests, and formulas for offerings to God.

  4. Atharvaveda

  5. Chants for healing, wisdom for everyday life, and other formulas.
